
Lead Test Engineer
As a Lead Test Engineer at Nationale Nederlanden (NN), you will support the Digital team within the Pensions department at one of the Netherlands’ largest financial companies. Based in Rotterdam, you will use your testing skills to help assure the quality of our software products and services. So doing, you will help us care for what matters most to our customers and stakeholders.
What are you going to do?
Within the Digital team of NN’s Pensions department, which is responsible for our customer-facing applications, you will be responsible for developing and executing test strategies, plans and test cases and crafting our test capabilities. As we’re rapidly professionalising and switching our focus towards digital leadership, you will have a dynamic part to play with plenty of freedom to make your mark. In this role, you will lead and coach seven teams on how to define, implement and maintain a test approach that ensures the quality of our software. You will be working hands-on in one of the teams for 50% of your time (leading by example) and the other 50% you will coach, guide, support and lead the teams of the Digital department. You will:
- Manage engineers, business analysts and testers to ensure timely and accurate testing
- Coach, guide and contribute to test automation within the teams
- Collaborate with development teams to identify and resolve issues
- Ensure all testing activities are properly documented and reported
- Continuously improve testing methodologies and processes

What you will bring
Your passion for quality assurance is evident in everything you do. With a keen eye for detail and an innate understanding of the importance of delivering high-quality software products, you are driven by a desire to ensure that every aspect of a product meets the highest standards. As a natural problem-solver, you can spot issues, inefficiencies and processes that affect quality in the development life-cycle. You use your communication skills to work collaboratively with development teams and other stakeholders, always looking for ways to improve testing methodologies and processes. You also have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in a leadership or management role
- 5+ years of experience in software testing and quality assurance and a strong understanding of software testing methodologies, processes and tools like Cypress, Jest or other industry standards
- Experience with coding languages like Javascript, Typescript and VueJS
- Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes, including Gitlab Pipelines
- A professional working proficiency level in both Dutch and English
